WELCOME AU BORD DE L’EAU
… as in the times of Sunny Megève

At an altitude of 1,113 m/3,650 feet, Megève lives the seasons, the time of flowers and butterflies, that of blueberries and the gold of the forests, as well as that of snow and lights.

In the magic of an evening that falls in the distance on the Mont d'Arbois, the gentle poetry of a place by the water is inscribed. Originally a family flat turned into a Suite for artists, to be lived in as in the days of sunny Megève, in the inspiration of the first half of the 20th century, especially the 1950’s.

GOING BACK IN TIME... RE-LIGHTING MEGEVE

Laurence Costa & Daniel Siegel have taken it upon themselves to remember the great years of the Chalet Au bord de l'Eau, built in 1953 by Louis Chaponneau, through the fantastic history that saw the birth of the Megève legend. At its heart is a 75 m² space that has been brought back to life as an Artists' Suite for 2 only.

Having left Megève in 2008 to create "instants d'Absolu" Ecolodge & Spa, in the heart of a three-hundred-year-old farm in the Cézallier region, Laurence & Daniel returned last year to the Mont Blanc region to completely revisit a family flat and offer it to all those artists who, like them, cherish the prospect of time out of the ordinary, of enchanted moments.

Au bord de l'Eau is a Suite of artists, a Suite of a different style, who has vowed to renew a great relationship with « Megève l’ensoleillée » (sunny Megève)...

THE STORY OF A RENOVATION
50'S, FENG SHUI & POLYCHROMY

«Although Feng Shui has nothing to do with Megève, it has imposed itself in the redevelopment as an axis and direction. A thousand-year-old Chinese art, it aims to create harmony and in this respect we were very interested in the well-being that emanates from it, which is part of our DNA, » explains Laurence.

Because we cannot be more connected to the Elements than in the heart of nature and, through them, to the energies, it was undoubtedly as innovative as it was relevant to give guests the opportunity to feel the good energy linked to the living areas of the place.

THE MOUTAIN IN MAJESTY

In the entrance, a passage of mosaic tiles (terrazzo, made up of fragments of natural stone and coloured marble agglomerated with cement), like a carpet, laid the first milestones of this reconstruction. Or how to use the colours as a basis for the redevelopment. Colours (mustard yellow, red, blue, green) that are also a sign of the 1950s and contact the polychromy to which Henry Jacques Le Même was attached.

The monumental mountain is inscribed between the walls on two canvases signed by Stella Cadente, placed back to back, one sepia in the living room side, the other golden brown in the bedroom.

A FESTIVE APERITIF... IN THE HEART OF MEGEVE
A DINNER AT THE CHALET

A place to live so close to the centre of Megève that you can walk there... to go skiing (from the Chamois cable car), as well as to treat yourselves to a Day Spa and a good massage or a festive aperitif before going back to the chalet for dinner (family crockery, Biot art glassware).

Because there is no doubt that sooner or later you will want to take advantage of this place like a hotel suite, with the added bonus of independence. A singular place to rent at the crossroads between prestige hotels and your home away from home.

Beyond the winter, it is in the 4 seasons and even more, out of season for the extra authenticity, that this artists' Suite is to be experienced. For a different kind of stay, possibly for a whole season of holiday and weekends.

Entirely non smoking - pets not allowed.

BRIEFLY…

This artists' Suite combines the soul of the 1950s with modern comfort and well-being:

  • bathroom with shower and retro bathtub on stand,

  • parking space for even more comfort.

« What if, in our true nature, we were as grand as the mountain? What if, by taking nature as our interlocutor, we could reconnect with the power of our origins, the immensity of what we truly are?  »
